Barn Raising: Putting A Roof On It

Roof purlins are the framework that we’ll attach the roofing to.

Time to swing a hammer. Marion drives nails (above).

Once the purlins are nailed in place, I cut the ends to length.

The purlin framework gives the roof a lattice that we’ll climb too many times to count in the coming days.

With purlins in place, we’re ready to switch to steel work for a few days. Once the roof is on and protecting the frame we’ll be able to slow down the pace.
