Barn Raising: Day Nine

The ceremonial topping off with the whetting bush came on the ninth day of the raising, after we’d finished pegging the monitor rafters.

In the photo above, I tack a hemlock bow to the highest point, giving thanks to the forest for providing the timber and for a safe raising.

The day ended with a toast (thanks for the wine, Robbie!).

We took a long moment for some much needed rest, and to enjoy our barn frame’s beauty before we cover it with a roof.
