Barn Raising: Day Five
A “week-long” rental of the telehandler (Henry) was really only 5 days. That meant that we had to get a few more tasks completed by the end of the fifth day of the raising. First up was the installation of braces on the widow’s peaks.
I found the work at the top of the gable ends of the barn very enjoyable. The perspective above the orchard and the distant views were amazing, but I also enjoyed looking down at the frame we’d just raised. I tried to savor it, knowing that soon a roof would block the view from above.
By mid-afternoon, Henry’s work was complete.
Marion and I enjoyed a shortened workday as we rested up for the chore of installing rafters.
